WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

This system is driving the world into climate and ecological crisis and yet we refuse to be defined by it.

We refuse to follow a story we do not believe in, did not write and WE REJECT THE INHERITANCE THAT COMES WITH IT

Understanding the climate and ecological crisis as a symptom of a system built on oppression, colonisation, dehumanisation and exploitation brought about by older generations, the majority of which are Western bodies of power, our generation is unanimously threatened.

We stand alongside a global majority of groups that will suffer the most due to this crisis, yet have done the least to cause it.

We stand for CLIMATE JUSTICE FOR ALL.

XR asks the government to tell the truth. We must tell the whole truth.

We must be truthful with ourselves and recognise that Britain has a history of colonisation and exploitation which is central to the creation of the climate crisis. To avert climate breakdown that history needs to be addressed by taking on board what the global south has been saying for centuries about the damage our ‘lifestyle’ has been doing to them and their homelands. We must engage with those most exploited to develop a more just and sustainable future for us all. We need to start listening to what communities across the globe have been telling us for generations.
