ONE OF OUR DEMANDS ASKS THE GOVERNMENT TO TELL THE TRUTH
WE MUST TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH
THE TRUTH IS our demands are not enough
The urgency of the climate crisis requires a just response centered on human rights, equity, and justice.
The way our world currently looks is built on exploitation.
We need to transform the world in order to prevent further climate catastrophe.
We need to transform the way we live in order for us to survive.
A just transition recognises that the way we must transform must include changes that restore the balance of power and give power and resources back to those people who have had them taken away.
THE TRUTH IS Britain is responsible for the climate crisis - historically, legally and morally.
The scars of the British Empire are present in the lives and histories of exploited people, in the desolation of landscapes for industrial farming and in the mining, drilling, building, waste production and pollution that have decimated the landscapes, displaced people and fuelled climate catastrophe.
THE TRUTH IS the only solution to the climate crisis is to restore and repair land, re-unite people with their homelands and work to transform our relationship with each other and our planet.
THE TRUTH IS communities of colour, migrant communities and working-class communities bear the brunt of the climate crisis. These communities, even in well-to do countries like Britain, lack the resources due to an ingrained system of classism and racism.
THE TRUTH IS the ideology that has created the hostile environment for migrants in the UK is the same ideology that has created a hostile climate worldwide.
THE TRUTH IS that we have exploited world resources and caused climate chaos.
Many people are coming here to find the safety we have taken away from them, many have been here for decades building the relative safety we enjoy now.
THE TRUTH IS competing for resources is not the answer, either inside, or beyond our borders. We need to work to repair the damage to people and planet and manage resources collectively for all.
THE TRUTH IS THERE CAN BE NO CLIMATE JUSTICE WITHOUT MIGRANT JUSTICE
